75 1/2 Day Children-Focused Course
This course provides essential knowledge and practical skills to understand attachment in children and how emotional instability may present in care, education, and healthcare settings. It focuses on supporting children in a safe, nurturing, and trauma-informed way to promote emotional wellbeing and resilience.
Course Objectives
- Understand attachment theory and its importance in child development.
- Recognise different attachment styles and how they present in children.
- Understand the impact of trauma, neglect, and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
- Identify signs of emotional instability and dysregulation in children.
- Recognise behaviours as communication of unmet emotional needs.
- Develop skills to support emotional regulation and stability.
- Learn strategies to build trust, safety, and positive relationships.
- Understand the importance of consistency, boundaries, and routine.
- Develop effective communication techniques with children and young people.
- Promote resilience, self-esteem, and emotional wellbeing.
- Understand safeguarding responsibilities and when to escalate concerns.
- Work effectively with families, carers, and multi-agency teams.
- Reflect on professional responses and maintain emotional resilience.
Target Audience
This course is suitable for healthcare professionals, support workers, teachers, social care staff, foster carers, and safeguarding leads working with children and young people.
Course Format
- Duration: 1/2 Day
- Mode: In-person training only
- Assessment: Case studies, group discussions, and reflective learning
Certification
Participants will receive an Attachment and Emotional Instability in Children Certificate upon successful completion of the course.
The certification is valid for 1–2 years (in line with organisational policy).
