45 1/2 Day Children-Focused Course
This course provides essential knowledge and practical skills to understand and support children with Autism and ADHD. It focuses on recognising individual needs, promoting inclusive practice, and creating supportive environments that enable children to thrive.
Course Objectives
- Understand Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
- Recognise the key characteristics and differences between Autism and ADHD.
- Understand how these conditions affect communication, behaviour, and learning.
- Identify sensory needs and how they impact children’s experiences.
- Recognise behaviours as communication of needs and emotions.
- Develop strategies to support focus, emotional regulation, and engagement.
- Learn how to create structured, predictable, and supportive environments.
- Promote inclusive practice and reasonable adjustments in care and education.
- Develop effective communication approaches, including visual supports.
- Support children’s confidence, independence, and wellbeing.
- Work effectively with families, carers, and multi-agency professionals.
- Understand safeguarding considerations and escalation procedures.
- Reflect on practice to improve outcomes for children with additional needs.
Target Audience
This course is suitable for healthcare professionals, teachers, teaching assistants, support workers, early years practitioners, and anyone working with children and young people.
Course Format
- Duration: 1/2 Day
- Mode: In-person training only
- Assessment: Case studies, group discussions, and reflective learning
Certification
Participants will receive an Autism and ADHD (Children Focused) Certificate upon successful completion of the course.
The certification is valid for 1–2 years (in line with organisational policy).
