  • Understand key sections of the Act, including Section 17 and Section 47.
  • Recognise signs of abuse, neglect, and safeguarding concerns.
  • Understand thresholds for intervention and child protection procedures.
  • Learn how to respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
  • Understand the importance of accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Promote child-centred and rights-based approaches in care and education.
  • Work effectively with families and multi-agency teams.
  • Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
  • Reflect on professional roles and responsibilities in safeguarding children.

Target Audience

This course is suitable for healthcare professionals, support workers, teachers, social care staff, foster carers, and safeguarding leads working with children and young people.

  • Assessment: Case studies, group discussions, and knowledge checks

Certification

Participants will receive a Children Act 1989 (Children Focused) Certificate upon successful completion of the course.
The certification is valid for 1–2 years (in line with organisational policy).
