Safeguarding in Children: County Lines, FGM, and Cyber Bullying
55 1/2 Day Children-Focused Course
This course provides essential knowledge and practical skills to recognise and respond to safeguarding risks affecting children, including county lines exploitation, female genital mutilation (FGM), and cyber bullying. It focuses on early identification, prevention, and appropriate intervention to protect children and promote their safety and wellbeing.
Course Objectives
- Understand the principles of safeguarding and child protection.
- Recognise the signs and indicators of county lines exploitation.
- Understand how criminal exploitation affects children and young people.
- Identify risk factors and warning signs of female genital mutilation (FGM).
- Understand legal responsibilities regarding FGM reporting and prevention.
- Recognise different forms of cyber bullying and online risks.
- Understand the impact of online harm on children’s mental health and wellbeing.
- Develop skills to respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
- Understand thresholds for intervention and when to escalate concerns.
- Follow correct safeguarding procedures and reporting protocols.
- Work effectively with multi-agency safeguarding teams.
- Promote child safety, resilience, and awareness in digital environments.
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
Target Audience
This course is suitable for healthcare professionals, support workers, teachers, social care staff, safeguarding leads, and anyone working with children and young people.
Course Format
- Duration: 1/2 Day
- Mode: In-person training only
- Assessment: Case studies, scenario-based discussions, and knowledge checks
Certification
Participants will receive a Safeguarding in Children: County Lines, FGM, and Cyber Bullying Certificate upon successful completion of the course.
The certification is valid for 1–2 years (in line with organisational policy).
