Course Objectives

  • Learn how to identify hazards and carry out lone working risk assessments.

  • Develop awareness of personal safety strategies and situational awareness.

  • Understand how to manage challenging behaviour and potential conflict situations.

  • Learn safe practices for home visits, community work, and remote environments.

  • Gain knowledge of communication protocols and emergency procedures.

  • Understand the importance of reporting incidents and near misses.

  • Learn how to use safety equipment, alarms, and tracking systems where applicable.

  • Develop confidence in decision-making when working independently.

  • Understand employer and employee responsibilities under health and safety legislation.

Target Audience

This course is suitable for healthcare workers, support staff, community workers, carers, and professionals who work alone in community, residential, or outreach settings.

Mode: In-person training only
Assessment: Scenario-based discussions and written assessment

Certification

Participants will receive a Lone Working Certificate upon successful completion of the course.
The certification is valid for 1–2 years (depending on organisational requirements).
