This course provides essential knowledge and practical skills to recognise, understand, and support individuals living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders in a safe, compassionate, and person-centred way.
Understand the fundamentals of anxiety disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Identify the signs and symptoms of anxiety (e.g. panic attacks, generalised anxiety) and OCD (obsessions and compulsions).
Understand the causes and triggers, including biological, psychological, and environmental factors.
Recognise how OCD and anxiety can impact daily functioning, behaviour, and wellbeing.
Learn how to support individuals experiencing anxiety episodes or distress.
Develop skills in calm communication, reassurance, and de-escalation techniques.
Understand the importance of routine, structure, and coping strategies.
Learn how to promote independence while providing appropriate support.
Recognise when to escalate concerns or seek specialist support.
Understand professional responsibilities including confidentiality, boundaries, and safeguarding.
Develop skills in documentation, reporting, and person-centred care planning.
This course is suitable for healthcare assistants, support workers, nurses, care staff, and managers working with individuals who experience anxiety or OCD in healthcare, community, or residential settings.
Duration: 1 Day
Mode: In-person training only
Assessment: Case studies, group discussions, and reflective learning
Participants will receive an OCD and Anxiety Awareness Certificate upon successful completion of the course.
The certification is valid for 1–2 years (in line with organisational policy).
